Nokia

Nokia 5700

For some time I had almost the idea that Nokia was disappearing from the market slowly. The models were all a lot alike and there weren’t a lot of exciting things going on. But I think Nokia’s developers were preparing for what was yet to come. The design of the Nokia mobile phones is becoming more and more stylish and fits perfectly in this time and day. The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic is such a handset with a trendy design. At first sight, it seems like there’s nothing special about the Nokia 5700, but when looking a bit further you will notice something unusual about the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic. In the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic, Nokia combines communi-cation and multimedia and lets it blend into one whole. I had the chance to test the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic for a while; my findings can be read in the following Nokia 5700 XpressMusic review.

Nokia 500

Nokia just announced a new standalone GPS navigation system called Nokia 500. Nokia 500 has a wide 4.3″ touch screen, bluetooth feature so you can take calls on your bluetooth phone hands free, and FM transmitter so you can listen to your audio files on your car’s stereo.

Nokia 500 is also capable of receiving live traffic info which can be displayed on the split screen in addition to other details that may help during your journey. It also does text-to-speech which currently is only supported on high end GPS devices.

Nokia E71

Apparently this is the leaked image of the new Nokia E71 which made an appearance at a Nokia event in Sydney recently. This device is very well equipped with WiFi, HSDPA (3.6MBps), and a 3.2MP camera, and of course the embedded GPS - seems like Nokia is determined to put a GPS receiver in each one of their devices.

It will have a QWERTY keyboard (in case you could’t tell from the picture), offer bluetooth connectivity, and have a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

More than likely Nokia E71 will use Nokia Maps 2.0 as well and if you pay your fees you can also get turn-by-turn directions, download city guides with millions of points of interest.

Nokia N98 with GPS (concept)

Here is a great photoshop effort from the Fre
nch: the Nokia N98 with amazing features including an integrated GPS receiver just like the N95 (Nokia N98 high resolution).

Here are the made up specs for this made up phone:

  • 7.2 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens
  • 5x optical zoom (20x with digital)
  • 3.5″ inch touch screen
  • integrated GPS receiver
  • integrated TNT receiver (Télévision Numérique Terrestre - this is what French call digitally broadcast TV channels)
  • Symbian S70 3rd edition
  • 3D graphics accelerator
  • bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi (b,g,n)
  • HSDPA
  • video recording at 720×576 and 30fps
  • Multimedia support

5x optical zoom made us laugh the hardest. It is not mentioned in this list but I’m sure the N98 will be able to handle microSD cards and have a battery that lasts 12 hours on a single charge.

Nokia N810 Wimax Edition

MLI was able to get a bit of hands on time with the Nokia N810 WiMAX edition at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas this week. The N810 WiMAX edition is essentially the same hardware as the standard N810 but with the added WiMAX capability. The WiMAX differentiates itself visually with a darker color scheme. It also runs a new version of the Internet Tablet OS, which will also be made available to the N800 and N810 later this year.

Read on for our pictures of the device in action, plus a couple of bonus shots of the latest Nokia phones on display.
